Creating the perfect cocktail is a work of art. And with the right tools at your disposal, it’s even easier to get it right every time. We’ve decided to create the Beaumont 8-piece home cocktail kit to turn you into a cocktail master, in your own home.
Beaumont offers outstanding cocktail and bar accessories in South Africa which are perfect for home use. Cocktails faded off the bar scene for a moment in the 90’s and early 2000’s, with beers and wine becoming more popular. But the glitzy drinks are back with a bang, now that the Millennials have realised what a great artisanship drink they are.
Where Do Cocktails Come From?
The word “cocktail” entered the world in 1806. The Balance and Columbian Repository of Hudson, a conservative newspaper of New York, described a cocktail as an invigorating blend of liquors, with both sweet and bitter tastes mingling together.
But the origin of the word is debated by many. Some say that cock-tail was a vulgar term for a drink that would course through your veins, giving you a boost of spirit-lifting energy, implying that it would cock your tail up. Almost like the tail of a horse prancing about. Back in the day, England was famous for their spicy ginger-infused drinks. In America they preferred to add stronger liquor to give it a bigger kick.
In the beginning, a cocktail was made up of only four basic ingredients: liquor, bitters, sugar, and water. A cocktail purist would nowadays call this “an Old Fashioned”. During the 1870’s and 1880’s adventurous bartenders started mixing in other ingredients to spice things up.
Make Your Own Cocktails at Home
Whether you like to stick to the rules or spice things up, the Beaumont 8-piece home cocktail kit will transform you into a bartender that even Tom Cruise would be envious of. (For the younger crowd, he made bartending look really cool in the 1988 movie, simply called Cocktail)
The kit is also a great way to start exploring a very handy hobby. Invite your friends over and start practicing your home bartending skills on them! Who wants to pay an arm and a leg for a fancy cocktail, when you can simply make one yourself, in the comfort of your own home?
The Beaumont 8-piece home cocktail kit includes the following cocktail-making tools:
- a plastic muddler
- 2 stainless steel free-flow pourers
- a 25/50ml jigger
- a Hawthorne strainer
- a stainless-steel Boston can
- Boston glass
- a cocktail spoon
It is the perfect entry-level bartender cocktail kit. The only things missing, are the ingredients, and lots of ice! Remember, ice plays a very important role in a good cocktail. You can use it to strike the perfect balance between strength and quantity. You don’t want a short potent cocktail, nor a long weak one.
